Collection: Serie: GRIDS

This series of watercolor and mixed media is about a mother’s conflict during the early stages of motherhood.

I was geometric, motherhood was organic.

I went through ups and downs, light and darkness, joy and sadness. Today, twelve years into motherhood I understand both energies can co-exist and I present them together on paper.

The grids represent the rigidness and expectations in our modern lives while juxtaposed with the freedom and uncontrolled movement of the water in watercolors. The thread represents the bond the links them together. The invisible thread of love.

If one surrenders and accepts this process  then the element of play and lightness can come along. But acceptance is like the tides, it can appear and sometimes it can retract. The feeling of lightness can expand like a swell and it can leave resulting in frustration. It’s a battle between order and expectations vs reality and the acceptance of what is.
